Given that very few "Grids" now venture as far as South Wales a trip to their more common haunts in the North East was deemed necessary to photograph the remaining members of the class. The area around Barnetby was chosen for its numerous booked class 56 diagrams and regular freight flows to and from Immingham and Scunthorpe.

The main picture above shows an immaculate liveried  56119 approaching Immingham with the MGR empties. 56031 looks slightly the worse for ware in its coat of "Dutch" livery as it passes through Melton Ross on its way to Scunthorpe but it makes a welcome change from the monotonous EWS maroon and gold.

56134 retains its sector decals as it approaches the manned crossing at Melton Ross. Here a small over bridge crosses the busy main line. The crossing keeper must have a great time watching the procession of grids pass by. All photographs were taken on a sunny Tuesday 1st May 2001.

Straying somewhat from its new southerly base, 58041 heads for home with a loaded MGR passing the Lime Works making an interesting final addition to the day.
